🛑Big Changes Coming November 1, 2025

Beginning November 1, 2025, all users must have an assigned license to access any Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 FO) application—including Finance, Supply Chain, Commerce, Project Operations, and Human Resources. Users without a valid license will be blocked from logging in and performing critical business tasks such as payroll, invoicing, purchasing, and reporting.

Make Sure Your Finance Team Is Up to Date on D365 FO Licensing

Your “NO INTERRUPTION” D365 FO Compliance Checklist

  • Audit User Roles & Current Licenses
Review EVERY user’s assigned roles and make sure each has the matching D365 FO license.
Use built-in license reporting in the Power Platform Admin Center or the User Security Governance (USG) workspace to identify gaps.
  • Assign Licenses BEFORE the Deadline
All assignments must be done through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
Remember, access will be blocked for anyone without a valid, assigned license after November 1. No exceptions.
  • Watch for Warnings
From September 1, 2025, users without assigned licenses will receive in-app notifications and their admins will get emails prompting immediate action.
This soft warning period is your final heads-up before hard enforcement!
  • Right-Size for Cost Savings
Analyze usage and eliminate unnecessary licenses or excessive role assignments (e.g., remove expensive license roles from users who don’t need them).
Consider annual billing instead of month-to-month to avoid extra premiums.
  • Update Procedures & Train Teams
Ensure all IT, HR, and department managers know about the change and understand its impact.
Establish a monthly check on license status to stay proactive.
