The Customer

Logicalis Australia is part of a global technology services provider with more than two decades of experience helping organisations design, implement and manage their digital environments. Spanning consulting, implementation and managed services, the business specialises in end-to-end cloud solutions that bring together strategic advisory expertise with next-generation digital managed services.

Its focus is on helping customers gain real-time visibility, actionable insights and improved performance, turning complex technology estates into connected, well-governed operations. That same expertise shapes how Logicalis approaches its own systems, with a clear expectation that its internal platforms should be as modern, integrated and scalable as the solutions it delivers for clients.

As the business grew, its own back-office landscape became harder to sustain. A legacy ERP system was approaching end of support in 2025, and a patchwork of specialised applications had accumulated around it over time. This created a timely opportunity to modernise, not simply to replace ageing technology, but to build a unified, scalable foundation capable of supporting continued growth across the wider Logicalis APAC region.

The goal was a connected, cloud-based digital core that would improve visibility, reduce operational risk, and position the business for regional expansion without re-engineering its systems each time it entered a new market.

The Challenge

Logicalis Australia was operating on a legacy ERP system that was approaching end of support in 2025. While stable, the platform’s looming end-of-life created both a risk to continuity and an opportunity: rather than simply extend an ageing system, the business could modernise its digital core and set itself up for the next phase of growth.

Over time, the organisation had adopted a number of specialised systems to handle different parts of the business, including Great Plains, ConnectWise and Projector. Each met a specific need, but together they formed a fragmented landscape that relied on integrations and manual coordination to keep data aligned. This added overhead, introduced delays, and made it harder to maintain a single, trusted view of financial and project information.

As the business expanded and its processes grew more complex, the limitations of this model became increasingly clear. Disconnected systems made it difficult to scale efficiently, and the manual effort required to reconcile data across platforms diverted time away from higher-value work.

There was also a broader regional dimension. Logicalis wanted a platform that could integrate across the wider APAC region, supporting more connected operations and real-time data sharing between entities rather than treating each market as an isolated environment.

It became clear that incremental fixes would not be enough. Logicalis Australia needed a single, scalable, cloud-based platform that could unify its core operations, remove the overhead of multiple disconnected systems, and provide a consistent foundation for growth across the region.

The Solution

Logicalis Australia partnered with Hitachi Solutions Asia Pacific to implement Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management as a single, cloud-based ERP. The new platform unified finance, supply chain, project management and accounting, and subscription billing within one integrated environment, replacing the previous mix of specialised systems with a consistent, scalable digital core.

Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement was integrated alongside the core ERP to ensure consistency across customer, product and project information. Bringing these together gave Logicalis a more connected view of its operations and removed the data delays that had previously come from coordinating multiple disconnected systems.

A key part of the solution was the Project Management and Accounting capability, which connects planning and timesheets directly with invoicing, cost tracking, revenue recognition and work-in-progress reporting. For a services-led business, this tighter link between project delivery and financial control is central to running efficiently and recognising revenue accurately.

The solution also incorporated Subscription Billing, supporting recurring revenue models within the same platform. Rather than managing recurring contracts separately, Logicalis could handle them natively, simplifying processes and reducing the risk of error.

Crucially, the deployment spanned more than one country. The programme went live across the primary Australian entity together with a Malaysian entity, demonstrating the platform’s ability to support multi-entity operations and scale across regions. Real-time integration between functions eliminated the data delays of the previous landscape and established a foundation designed to extend across APAC.

By implementing Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, Logicalis Australia gained more than a cloud-based ERP solution. The organisation now has a scalable digital platform that improves visibility, supports regional operations, and positions the business for future expansion.

Why Hitachi Solutions

Hitachi Solutions Asia Pacific brought genuine multi-entity, multi-country delivery experience to the programme, along with a common chart of accounts and reporting model that now accelerates the wider APAC rollout. By designing for regional scale from the outset, the team turned a single-country implementation into a reusable blueprint — giving Logicalis a consistent financial and reporting foundation it can extend to each new market rather than rebuilding for every entity.

The Benefits

  • Faster month-end and period-end close cycles
  • More efficient invoice processing from a single, centralised system
  • Project Management and Accounting connects planning and timesheets with invoicing, cost tracking, revenue recognition and WIP reporting
  • Subscription Billing supports recurring revenue models within the same solution
  • Consolidating multiple systems reduced integration overhead, eliminated data delays and lowered operational risk

What’s Next?

Building on the success of the Australian deployment, Logicalis Australia is planning further expansion, including a tenant migration to Singapore and a broader rollout of Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management across Logicalis APAC. The common chart of accounts and reporting model established during the programme means each new market can be brought on faster, capitalising on the foundations already in place.

Logicalis Australia has successfully migrated to a modern Microsoft Dynamics solution, bringing its business systems into the current integrated system, creating efficiencies and paving the way for further efficiencies to be leveraged across Logicalis Australia and the broader Logicalis APAC region in the near future.
