Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup (180ml) warm water (around 110°F or 43°C)
  • 1 tsp (4g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp (5g) salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp (5g) active dry yeast or instant yeast
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) olive oil

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the well.
  3. Using a wooden spoon or your hands, mix the ingredients together until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour, a tablespoon at a time. If the dough is too dry, add more water, a tablespoon at a time.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  5. Form the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and prepare a pizza stone or baking sheet.
  7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a lightly floured surface. Roll out the dough into a 12-inch circle, adding more flour as needed to prevent sticking.
  8. Transfer the dough to the prepared pizza stone or baking sheet. Add your desired toppings and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
